I labored over a direction to go and then decided on a duet...her talking to him/him talking to her. This song was inspired by the way they look at each other and how they inter-act. He was number one in sales last year, now my brother’s out looking for work. He finally goes out on an interview,. while his house gets robbed by some jerk. It was just a cough, the doctor thought… when I took my Mom in last May. She battled so hard; she really fought. Now, there’s nothing to do but just pray. How do you deal with that? BIG SOFT CHAIR Daddy first saw it in the store. Front window of the showroom floor. For newlyweds times were tough. Paying for it would be rough. But he couldn’t get it off of his mind. It rocked, it swiveled and it reclined. They saved up for half a year, And finally bought that big soft chair. Oh, that big soft chair…it’s where he rests his bones. After working hard all day…it lets him know that he’s home. It’s where he’d take his nap…‘til us kids found him there… and pile up on his lap…in that big soft chair. Well, it’s really held up fine. It’s been repaired a couple of times. Us kids are grown and gone. But, that chair just keeps hanging on. It’s great when we come back home… ‘cause now the grandkids won’t leave it alone. THAT CAR I just got out of high school; that car was fast and sleek. Took real good care of it; I waxed it every week. It helped me find my baby; she loved to go for rides. Cruising down the highway; hugging her close by my side. We drove off in her white dress; cans clanging from behind. A honeymoon on cruise control; got Georgia on my mind. Soon, kids piled in the back seat; food and wrappers on the floor. That car got harder to maintain; with less time than before. But, I love that car a lot. When I push the pedal, I’m peelin’ rubber. Hey, it’s the only car I’ve got. Ain’t no way I’d trade her for no other… ‘cause, I love that car a lot. Yeah, I love that car a lot. Well, the kids are grown and married; that car got kind of dusty. Parts of it are broken; it’s getting kind of rusty. It needs a couple tires; the battery is weak. Can’t see out of the windows; they’re blurry and they’re streaked. But, it’s suited me just fine; for the abuse it’s had to take. We all piled in for road trips: each year on Easter break. It’s carried bats and balls for games; and bushes for the lawn. So often it would run all day; from early in the dawn. And, I love that car a lot. Now when I push the pedal, it’s kind of stubborn. But, it’s the only car I’ve got. WE NEVER FELL IN LOVE A bottle of wine and candlelight… our life played like a song. The most romantic dinner. Seemed nothing could go wrong. My parents said you’re perfect. Had us hooked up from the start.. But, we both found a piece was missing. We never stole each others heart. Somehow we never fell in love. No one could figure why. Being friends was not enough.
