Course Description
This advanced course covers several "tricks of the trade" that will help your music stand out above the
crowd and sound more
professional. Song examples from several different genres of
music will be used to illustrate how to successfully incorporate techniques such
as chord substitutions, inversions, pedal point and modulation into your own
music.
Course Content
Lesson 1: Review Of Chord Substitutes
Lesson 2: Seventh Chords
Lesson 3: Seconds, Ninths And Suspended Chords
Lesson 4: Inversions And Pedal Point
Estimated Time
This course consists of four lessons each of which
takes approximately thirty to forty minutes to complete. To obtain the greatest
benefit, we suggest that you leave enough time after finishing each lesson to
do all the exercises and fully absorb the material before beginning the next
lesson.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge
This course assumes a thorough
understanding of commercial song structures. Suggested pre-requisite courses include: SONG 100 Commercial Song Forms, MUS 130 Musical Elements
Of A Successful Song, MUS 150 Essential Music Theory For Songwriters and MUS
240 The Nashville Number System.
