Course Title
TECH 150 Beginner's Guide to Computer Recording
Instructor
Fett
Course Description
Today's computer recording technology is powerful and robust, but it can
also be confusing and frustrating. If you're just starting out and have never
used a computer for recording before, or have gotten started with a computer
recording setup and want to use it more effectively, this class is for you.
Through a step-by-step checklist, this class takes you through the process by
clearly explaining topics like setting up and using an audio/MIDI hardware
interface, recording with DAW software, using a click track, using Direct
Monitoring to deal with computer latency, proper project setup and good computer
recording habits, and using templates to save time and avoid frustration.
This class focuses on the fundamentals of computer-based audio and the up-front,
recording part of music production; it does not address mixing or mastering
techniques (see other SongU courses for those topics).
