    Backstory:
This was my first write with Sam and Nicole. She had the hook and I just had to hang on and follow along with her and Sam; which was no easy feat. This girl is the real deal.

    Lyrics:

Memphis John Cirillo (ASCAP)/Sam Gyllenhaal (BMI)/Nicole Boggs (SESAC) What the hell are we doin? We’re working too hard Drowning our nights in the back of this bar Oh, burning out at both ends You say I’m short with my temper And I worry too much I say your building up walls and we’re both losing touch Oh, I know somewhere we can go Chorus: It’s never too far We can pack up and leave Get outta your head, hit the road, take a breath Leave that strung out and restless By the time we hit Memphis A little Beale Street revival Let it run through our blood Fight the blues with the blues Get back to just being in love Let that be enough Bridge: By the time we hit Memphis we’ll be letting go, get the weary out your soul By the time we hit Memphis we’ll be holdin on, let the city take us in her arms © 2018 john.cirillo@gmail.com/831.359.0161
