Backstory:
I had this hook, You Only Die Once, and brought it to the co-write with Alyssa and Dan and we decided we wanted to make a statement about realizing that life is short and that you can't waste time just existing.
Lyrics:

Sitting on the front porch with something to clear my head
Watching the world go by without me again
Thinking bout the years that I do or don’t have left
Thought of me not living scares me half to death
CHORUS
You’ll never hit the jackpot if you ain’t playin
What good is a chance if you don’t take it
I’m gonna live every day that I’m given
Cause you only die once
I’m done passing doors that open up for me
Walking that straight line ain’t got me where I want to be
Maybe it’s the whiskey but I’ve never seen this clear
Or maybe I’m just ready to take on all my fears
You’ll never hit the jackpot if you ain’t playin
What good is a chance if you don’t take it
I’m gonna live every day that I’m given
Cause you only die once
If you want a view ya gotta climb a mountain
You’ll never get there throwing coins in a fountain
I’m gonna live every day that I’m given
Cause you only die once
