Backstory:
A high school friend and I backpacked around Europe in 1975, the summer after graduating. We both enjoyed pot & hash, at that time (I lost interest in drugs decades ago). The friends we met in Scotland also smoked up - like attracts like!
One of them took us by his house, to pick up his weed. He spoke to his mother like she was a piece of dirt, so we put him in his place. I think he was trying to impress us.
That started the early versions of this song. Although well received when performed live, it was a too 'preachy', so I took it apart and rewrote it in 2014.
Lyrics:

We’re only young once why not live for today
What could possibly go wrong

High Times High Times why can’t I leave it

Alone
Leave it alone
Maybe next time

The party’s over the candy’s all gone
That used to be more than enough
The constant craving never entered my thoughts
It seemed like a good idea ... at the

High Times pushing me pushing me over

High Times to die for
