Backstory:
Coming home one day I was very tired. I wasn’t in a particularly good mood. It had been one of “those” days. When I got out of the car and started walking to my home, I heard children laughing. It had rained earlier in the day, but that had all cleared up and the sun was out. A bunch of kids were jumping in puddles, giggling, and getting wet.
It was a very pleasant sound and it instantly made me feel better. It changed my mood and outlook and stayed with me into the evening. That was the premise for the song
Lyrics:
When Children Laugh
Dan Robinson , Benn Cutarelli
Verse
Walkin' the neighborhood, got a poundin' headache
Thinkin’ ‘bout life, been one of those days
When I see kids jumpin' in puddles gettin’ wet
And it makes me smile, and it makes me forget
Yeah, it makes me forget
Chorus One
‘Cause when children laugh
I can’t help but stop and smile
All my worries go away for a little awhile
And when they laugh
I feel good inside again
It’s like a call from an ‘ol friend
Oh when children laugh
Verse
Feelin’ better as I move on my way
Going back over how those kids changed my day
Echoes of laughter lift my spirits up
And it makes me think, someone should bottle this stuff
Yeah, bottle this stuff
Chorus Two
‘Cause when children laugh
I can’t help but stop and smile
All my worries go away for a little awhile
And when they laugh
I feel good inside again
It’s like a call from an ‘ol friend
Oh when children laugh, Oh when children laugh
When children laugh
Bridge (Instrumental)
Chorus Three
‘Cause when children laugh
I can’t help but stop and smile
All my worries go away for a little awhile
And when they laugh
I feel good inside again
It’s like a call from an ‘ol friend
Oh when children laugh, Oh when children laugh
Oh when children laugh
When children laugh
