Backstory:
My husband and I are always joking around and one of our favorite things to do is joke with a "play on words"...So he was saying something to me on the phone on his way home from work and I was distracted and did not hear what he said. The I heard, "You couldn't care less if I come home late or not?" And I replied with, "Well I COULD care less"...We both laughed and he said, "I outta write a song about that" and I dared him to. Well, he had most of the lyric written by the time he got home...LOL...
Lyrics:
Oklahoma Weather
Bruce May/Tina Tufts-May
She could care less if I come home late but she doesn't
She could cry less when I hurt her if she tried
She thought I was the perfect man but I wasn't
Still she loves me just a shade more than she doesn't
I could care less if she runs off with another man
I could hurt a lot less when she says goodbye
I could give up on her fickle heart but I won't
'Cause I love her just a shade more than I don't
And our love as I remember is as tough as it is tender
But we never could surrender to our fate
And the days we spent together
Were like that Oklahoma weather
Sometimes too rough and cold
But sometimes great
So she'll keep running back to me 'til she doesn't
And I'll keep loving her until I change my mind
We thought we had the perfect love but it wasn't
They say love is as love does
And ours does just a shade more than it doesn't
And our love as I remember is as tough as it is tender
But we never could surrender to our fate
And the days we spent together
Were like that Oklahoma weather
Sometimes too rough and cold
But sometimes great
